Central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA) disproportionately affects Afro-American patients. Among male individuals, it’s frequently misdiagnosed as pattern hair loss when biopsies aren’t conducted. Proper diagnosis, confirmed through biopsy in this case, led to the initiation of anti-inflammatory medications and injections. Additionally, adopting natural hairstyles without braiding played a significant role in mitigating this challenging hair loss condition within just a few months.
